8 Must-Ask Questions Before Boarding Your Cat
It’s hard to leave your precious kitty behind when you are away on business or on vacation. It’s normal to feel concerned about your cat’s safety, stress-level, and loneliness.
Boarding your cat is a great option for caring for your cat while you are out of town. Not only will your feline family member have all his needs met, but you will have peace of mind.
But how can you tell if a particular kennel is a good fit for your furry friend?
Call to interview or go visit kennels in your area. When you speak to the staff, ask plenty of questions.
Here are some questions that cat owners ask Big Times Kennel:
#1 Q: Do I need to bring food?
A: At Big Times Kennel, we provide food and treats along with fresh water. If your cat requires a particular kind of food, you are welcome to provide it. If your cat requires a particular feeding schedule, please let us know. We can easily accommodate.
#2 Q: How close will my cat be to the other animals?
A: Many kennels house both dogs and cats. Some cats are stressed out when they hear the barking and yapping nearby! At Big Times Kennel, the cat condos are in their own quiet corner, far away from the dog kennel.
#3 Q: How much space will my cat get?
A: Each cat condo is a spacious 24”x24”x48”. If we are not at full capacity, the condos can be combined allowing your cat to have even more room to relax and explore. Each homey condo features plush carpeting.
#4 Q: How clean are the cat condos?
A: Each cat condo is cleaned daily or more. The air in our cattery is filtered with a medical-grade air purification system and has a constant flow of fresh air.
#5 Q: How do you handle emergency situations?
A: Please leave your veterinarian’s phone number so we can contact him or her in an emergency. Your pet’s safety and health are of top priority to us. We will also be in touch with you in an emergency. The owners of Big Times Kennel are life-long animal lovers. We know when a pet is in need of attention and extra care.
A: We understand that some cats crave attention while others would rather be left alone. If your cat is the kind that needs attention, please let us know. We will love on them while they are here! If your cat would rather be left alone, we will give them their space.
#7 Q: Do you have references?
A: Please ask if you would like references. You can also check out our reviews on Facebook, Google, or Yelp.
#8 Q: Can I visit?
A: Absolutely! Please visit! Reading references is a good start to making you feel comfortable with a kennel, but no amount of references will replace you coming to see the kennel for yourself.
