Big Times Kennel offers a
complete canine training program. Whether you would like a well
behaved pet or an accomplished competitor we have it all. Our
obedience programs start with the Manners 101 classes where basic
handling and good manners are taught. From here we offer an array of
different classes in obedience and agility and from time to time we
offer the AKC’s Canine Good Citizen Program. All instruction is
available in group lessons, as well as private and semi private
venues. All our instructors are experienced trainers and they
compete regularly in the venues they are teaching. Presently our
instructors are competing in agility, obedience, tracking and
conformation. With our competition grade instructors we feel we are
well prepared to handle your pet’s problems in a professional
manner. All our classes are small (7 or less) and offer a lot of one
on one attention so that each dog and handler are given the utmost
personal attention.

Class Descriptions
Manners 101
This is where you start.
Our
basic manners course concentrates on making your pet a compatible
companion. The course concentrates on walking on leash, sits, downs,
stay and come on recall. We also address those normal pet problems
like
barking, digging and
jumping. Need help with
house breaking
or counter surfing we can help.
Want your pet to be a perfect neighbor? “Manners 101” is the place
to start. This is a class for puppies and adult dogs.

Manners 201
CGC - Pre-Pet Therapy
This is a
coursed
designed to prepare you to take and successfully complete the
American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen Program and prepare those
of you who wish to enter the field of Pet Therapy work.
The course will focus on the proper meeting of strangers, dog
on dog meetings and interactions, loose lead healing, distraction
work and strong stays and recalls. So
if it a therapy dog you are looking for or just a better behaved dog
this is the class for you.
The AKC Canine Good Citizen Test will be offered to those who
would like to take it the last class of the session.

Manners 201
Pre-Agility
This is a course designed to introduce and prepare you and your pet for the world of
the performance agility dog. Whether your goal is to compete in the
agility ring or just to enjoy learning something new and spending
some time with your best friend this is where your agility journey
starts. The course is
focused on those skills which will make you and your dog successful
in this sport. We will
cover all the basics such as left and right sided handling, 2 on 2
off contacts and all the contact obstacles (Teeter, A Frame, Dog
walk). You also will
learn proper jumping techniques and proper execution of the closed
and open tunnel. This is a course for those who really want to learn
how to do agility with their dog.

Agility 101
Agility 101 will introduce your team to the fun of agility. Focus
will be put on the proper execution of each obstacle from the
placement of the handler to the proper set up of the dog. Proper
obstacle execution will be the focus of the class with special
emphasis on contacts and weave poles. It is our belief that a strong
foundation in contact obstacles and weave poles will lead you to
future successes in agility.
Dogs should be at least 18 months old.
Prerequisite:
Manners 201 Pre-Agility, ability to work off lead in the presence of
other dogs, ability to run off lead the channel weaves,
good stays and recalls with
other dogs present……

Agility 201
Now that you have the basics down you are ready for step 2, Agility
201 work will begin on series of obstacles and the importance of
handler positioning. Most of your class time will be spent working
with different obstacle combinations and different obstacle
placements. Special emphasis will continue to be placed on the
contact obstacles and weave poles and their proper execution,
crossing techniques will be introduced and each week new challenges
will be presented to keep you and your dog at the top of your game.

The successful execution of all obstacles off leash, and the ability
to successfully complete 12 upright weave poles at a Maximum
of 12 inches apart off leash and under control…..

Agility 301
You are now entering the world of agility and putting everything
learned together and facing new challenges.
Full height jumping, obstacle discrimination, working at a
distances, 180's, 270's and pinwheel turns will be some of the
challenges you will face.
Each week your team will be presented with a new set of
problems taken from actual agility trials.
Our goal is to over prepare you for an actual trial.
Prerequisite: The
successful execution of all obstacles off leash and the ability to
successfully complete 12 upright straight line weave poles……

Agility 401
This class is for the true competitor as the focus will be on
increasing dog speed and handler skills. Each week a new course will
be presented with new and different problems. The courses and the
problems presented are designed to push you and your dog to the
limit. All types of AKC Standard, Jumpers and Fast excellent level
courses will be presented.

Obedience and Pre-Agility Private Lessons Now Available
We are well aware that not everyone is available Monday or Tuesday
evenings. For that reason we are now offering private lessons so
that you can better fit in your dog training into your busy
schedule. Day and evening sessions are available. So should you need
special help with a particular problem or a busy schedule makes our
classes not practical. We now have a solution for you. Just contact
